Project Background
Project
Background
The
overall goals of this project are to help maintain a low carp population in the
Riley Creek chain of lakes and to improve water quality in Lucy Lake. Prevention of winter fish kill keeps pan fish
populations alive that eat egg, larvae, and fry of the few remaining carp that
breed in Lake Lucy. Fish kills, if
allowed, would ensure that carp populations rebuild. An ice-preserving aeration system (IPAS) unit
will be installed.
Current
Project Status
The system was installed and started on December 8, 2011;
turned off March 21, 2012; and removed from the lake and stored April 13,
2012. A presentation of the analysis and
results was given to the Mangers at the April 4 meeting. The Engineer recommends reinstalling and
operating the system in Lake Lucy in winter 2012-2013.
Water quality samples will continue to be taken after
spring turn over to determine impacts of the system on the lake.
