Project Background
The City of
Minnetonka petitioned the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District,
pursuant to the provisions of the Minnesota Statutes Sections 103D.201,
103D.605, 103D.705 and 103D.905, to undertake a basic water management project
for Purgatory Creek. The Riley Purgatory
Bluff Creek Watershed District Coordinator submitted the Petition for District
Action at the November 5, 2008, Managers Meeting, where it was approved to
initiate the process. The Engineer
submitted a draft Engineer's Report Plan that was approved at the January 7,
2009 Managers Meeting with an authorization for the Engineer's Report Initial
Development. At the July 1, 2009
Managers Meeting there was authorization for associated field work and for the
Engineer's Report Finalization.
Current Project Status
A
hardcopy of the Engineer’s Report was provided to the Managers in January
2010. The Engineer recommends the
Managers discuss and decide if/how to proceed with this proposed project. The next procedural step is to call a hearing
to determine next steps.
Hennepin
County has issued a Request for Proposals for preliminary design of the
reconstruction of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 101 from CSAH 62 to north of
CSAH 3. This includes the project area
in the city of Minnetonka’s petitioned project.
The County is the lead agency and is working in coordination with the
city of Minnetonka.
Early
2012 is the proper timing for District collaboration with the County and City.
